Large Dutch Side Table in Solid Oak 1940s

€1,650.00

This is a large side table in ‘The Hague School’ or ‘Haagse School’ style, made in the 1940s in The Netherlands.

The table comes in solid oak and has a refined yet simple timeless appearance. The design features beautiful rounded edges in both feet and top and shows great proportions. It is just a very handsome table. The solid oak has a very deep color and can be combined wonderfully with materials like stone, concrete, rich fabrics and art deco or mid century furniture. Interestingly, this table seems to be partly made out of wood (crates) from the Rotterdam harbour - as can be seen at the underside of the table. Therefore we suspect it was made in or shortly after the Second World War when there was a general shortage of supply.

This table is fairly large - larger than most side tables - and could also be used as a high coffee table or as a gueridon table in a hallway.

It comes in a very good and original condition.
